R.I.P. Charlie

Tonight has been another learning experience for us and our kids. Our poor little parakeet, Charlie died. My poor little Joshua took it the hardest. He cried and cried and cried. He was the last one to hold him before he passsed away. He prayed for him too. Jakob cried a little, but managed to hold his tears in more. Caleb and Elena didn't seem to understand that Charlie would no longer be with us. We had a little funeral service for Charlie after Ronny got home from school. We sang, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and couldn't even get through the first verse without tearing up, at least Ronny, Joshua, and I. It is really difficult to see his cage empty. Death is never a fun experience, but it is a part of this life. So sad that Joshua has to experience this at such a young age, but hopefully it will be a good learning experience for all of us. Charlie was a fun bird, even if he was hyperactive at times and sometimes liked to be the boss of the birds and spook the cockatiels so that they flew all over the house. He will still be missed by our family. Rest in peace, little Charlie. Hope you are in a much happier place right now.
