Last Sunday, I got another priesthood holder in my home. Boy am I lucky to have all these boys. These two got matching suits for Christmas, so they look sharp when they are passing the sacrament. It was kind of crazy to see both of them passing the sacrament together. Jakob said he was very nervous and he felt like everyone was watching him. But, he did a great job! I have to admit, they made me proud. I have to remember that when I see him up there and he has forgotten to comb down the back of his hair, so he looks like he just gotten out of bed. Most of the time he is much better about taking care of his hygiene, but we are still working on that.
Some things about Jakob:
~He has enjoyed being at Dixie Montessori Academy this past year and has learned a lot and has told me of times when he has stood up for his religion, even to the teacher and to one of his friends at school who is inactive. He seems to have chosen some good friends and that makes me glad that he is staying true to who he is.
~He still loves to read and will often disappear in his room after school to go read whatever book he is reading or re-reading at the time.
~Elena and Eli often say that Jakob is their favorite brother, because he usually is very willing to help them with something or play with them.
~His music teacher says that he is very proficient at playing the recorder. He says it is easy. Probably because he is used to reading notes on two clefs for piano.
~His teacher says that he is the perfect student and is always working on learning and is also respectful to the teachers in the classroom.
~He really loved being in his advanced learning class and learned about Shakespeare and started reading a little of Morte d'Arthur. He was also able to start on some Pre-Algebra and Geometry.
Despite the little bit of pre-teen attitude that seeps through sometimes, it has been a good year for this boy and we are grateful for the loving nature that he shows more often than not.
