Thursday was our ward's Blue and Gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts. It was so much fun! The theme was a Polynesian Luau and the food was soooooo delicious! Just can't beat good Hawaiian food and live Hawaiian music. The band was fabulous!
The boys practiced for 3 weeks the 2 dances that they performed for everyone. They danced the hawaiian Hukilau and a Maori War Chant. They had fun with it and did a great job!
These are the scary Maori warriors that live at my house! =) Well, all but the blonde one who is a friend that loves to take pics with my boys.
We also had a cake auction to help raise funds for the Cub Scouts. It was a great success partially due to an awesome Poly MC and partially due to the fact that we have such awesome and amazing people in our ward who not only made/donated cakes, but also paid good money for them to support the scouts. Elena is modeling some rings that she got out of some cupcakes that were a part of the auction and she's wearing one of the dresses that Grandma Young got for her. Thanks, Grandma! She loves all of them.
Eli and Daddy had a different way of modeling the rings. Of course, Daddy was the instigator of this idea.
Also one of the talented Hawaiian girls in our ward, Jodi Santiago, did a beautiful hula for everyone. Then she grabbed me and several other polynesian girls to come up and follow her in a hula on the spur of the moment. Not gonna lie, I was a little self-conscious with my big prego belly, but it made me realize how much I miss dancing and I was glad to be able to get over my apprehensions and just get up and have some fun! Who cares if I looked ridiculous, it was just plain fun! My sweet hubby even told me afterward that I was the one that looked the best dancing up there with Jodi. Isn't he nice? Then a member of our bishopric told me afterward that his 17 year old son told him that he couldn't believe that a pregnant lady could dance so well. LOL! That made me laugh, but kind of nice to hear. No pics of this, though.
All in all a super fun night spent with great people and all for a good cause. I sure love my ward!
