Finding Joy in the Journey

I love going to church! I love being filled up with spiritual food each week! It messes up my whole week if I miss a Sunday from sickness. Anyway, one theme that kind of rang true in my ears today, I just wanted to write down and share. The primary children sang some songs for their daddies today. As my three oldest boys walked up to the front pulpit area with the rest of the primary children, my little Elena who is not old enough to be in primary saw her older brothers leave. Now we weren’t sitting close to the front of the chapel. In fact, we were sitting in the overflow, so the walk to the front is not a short one, especially if you are a little 3 year old. But she was sure that she should follow her brothers to the front. So in her very confident manner, she walked herself to the front where all the other kids were standing, awaiting their chance to sing. Just watching her do that made me think of the power of example. She could make that long walk to the front with confidence, because she was following her brothers’ example. The savior does the same for us. He’s walked the path that we must take and we must follow him and his example with confidence and with faith, knowing that no matter how difficult our journey here on earth may be, he has already walked that path and he has made it. And with his help, we can make it too. We just have to have confidence in his power and faith in his atonement. The savior has said to become as a little child and follow him. Although, the path we choose to take may not be nearly as straight as his, as long as we strive to do our best to follow his example WE CAN AND WILL MAKE IT through all the struggles and difficulties. So I know that this is not a new concept or anything, but it’s always nice to be reminded that we’re never alone and the savior’s arms are always open waiting to receive us, if we just make the choice to follow him in faith. Our sadness will be filled with joys beyond comprehension.
